CAPITOL AND EDENDALE
“THANKS FOR THE BUGGY RIDE”
The idea of “Thanks for the Buggy Ride,” the picture now at the Capitol and Edendale Theatres, was suggested by the song of that title. Laura La Plante at her prettiest and Glenn Tryon at his funniest are the two lovers who face the cold world without a penny and decide to get married as soon as they can make a few thousand pounds in a grand cleanup. The youth is a genius and knows it. The girl who loves him does not doubt it. The world, however—well, you know how the world is. He gets a brilliant idea and they decide to buy a house with it and settle down, but this leaves them as far its ever from being able to settle up. All that follows must be seen to be laughed at. Emil Jannings. the outstanding dramatic actor of the screen, is the star of “The Last Command.” the second feature this evening. He has the role of a Russian general who, from the heights of pomp and splendour, with men, women and a. nation at his feet, goes through flaming love and hate to be a mere unwanted actor. The finish is as great a climax as the screen has known.
