HEAVY OFFERING OF PIGS (Prom Our Own Correspondent) P UKEKOHE, Thursday. At Pukekohe to-day Alfred Buckland and Sons held one of the largest stock sales of the year. Pigs came forward in lai'ge numbers, 952 being penned, and sold at rates equal to those ruling at Westfield. The yarding of beef and stores was heavier than usual, fat cows being in keen demand. Only a moderate number of dairy cattle were offered. Quotations are:— Pigs: Heavy prime bacoriers sold from £2 17s to £3 3s; light and medium, £2 9s to £2 14s; heavy porkers, £2 4s to £2 7s; lighter. £1 17s to £2 2s; small and unfinished", £1 9s to £1 15s; bestframed stores, £1 4s to £1 Ss; smaller, 19s to £1 2s; slips, 13s to 17s; weaners, 3s to 12s. Beef: Small fat steers, £9 10s to £lO 10s; fresh and forward-.conditioned * steers, £S 10s to £ll Is; two-year-old steers, £6 15s to £8 ss; fat cows, £7 17s 6d to £l2 ss; fat heifers, £7 10s to £8 15s; store cows, £3 15s to £4 17s Gd; heavy bulls, £9 10s to £ll 2s 6d; lighter, £3 10s to £6 12s 6d. Dairy Stock: Best cows, close to profit, £lO to £l2 10s; others, £8 to £9 10s; best heifers at profit, £lO to £l2 15s: choice Jersey yearling heifers, £6 10s to £7 15s; others, £5 to £5 15s.

BUTTER AND CHEESE

Merchants report receipt of overseas cables as follow: — Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., from their London manager under date 29th inst.: “Butter: ‘Anchor,’ 178 s; other finest, 1765: first grade, 1745: market quiet. Danish, 1945, f.o.b. Cheese: Wlii-te and coloured, 102 s; market very slow.”

WHEAT, FLOUR AND PULSE

(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) Reed. 10.59 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. Wheat.—Cargoes are dull, and have mostly declined 3d. The Indian demand is in abeyance owing to rains in the United Provinces and the Punjab. Parcels are being given poor attention and are 3d down. Liverpool futures: December, 9s 1 3-8 d; March, 9s 23-8 d; May, 9s 2 5-Sd. The spot trade in all sections is quiet. Australian unchanged. Flour is slow. Australian, ex store, Oats are firm and peas and beans steady.
