FREE AMBULANCE SUCCESS
WORK IN WELLINGTON Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. The Wellington free ambulance has just completed its first 12 months of service, and the president of the Ambulance Association, Air. C. B. Norwood, said to-day they had met with very real success, and the future looked very promising indeed.”. In 12 months 5,129 cases had been handled. The movement was meeting with a growing public support, and, as time went on, the service would be extended to bringing in maternity cases from the country and transporting outpatients to and from the hospital. Asked how much more work the ambulance was doing than the several services working independently 18 months ago. Air. Norwood said that it did approximately three times the work. Alention was made, particularly by Air. Norwood, of the willing service given by auxiliary workers from the St. John Ambulance. He hoped the Government next session would give the ambulance a charter in due form, which would definitely fix the methods of financing the service in the future.
