CAMPING SITES
MANGERE MOUNTAIN REFUSED DOMAIN BOARD’S OPPOSITION The proposal to establish a summer camping ground for touring motorists on the slopes of Mangere Mountain has failed to impress the Mangere Domain Board, in whose control the area is vested. Representatives of the Auckland Automobile* Association, the One-hunga-Mahukau Chamber of Commerce, and the Domain Board recently met on the ground and all agreed that it would make an ideal site for the purpose. The question was then referred to the Domain Board for final decision. This morning Mr. A. G. Holdsworth, secretary of the Onehunga-Manukau Chamber of Commerce, received advice from the board that it had been unable to agree to the proposal. As it is too late to make other arrangements in the vicinity of Onehunga this season, the question of a permanent camping site for Auckland remains unsettled for the time being. The Auckland Automobile Association has reached an agreement with the A. and P. Association for the temporary use of the Epsom Showgrounds.
