“LITTLE HERMIE”

FUN AT ST. JAMES Crowds of Aucklanders are still visiting the St. James every evening to enjoy “Little Hermie” Ward and his Whirl of Mirth Revue Company. Hermie keeps them laughing all tho time he is on the stage, and when he has a rest the company takes his phvee. Little Hermie’s right-hand man, A 1 Maurice, does a great deal of good work. His performance on the stage would make anyone laugh and certainly makes the audience enjoy themselves, and with .Charlie Sherman, to complete the comedy team, the three should go on filling the theatre night after night. The sieging of the company is excellent. Vernon Sellars, whose popularity cannot be denied, Alma \aldor, Colleen Hope and Patsy Hill all sing and dance to perfection. They are well supported by the ballet —a crowd of attractively dressed girls—who danco gracefully in the background. In the second half of the programme, when the wild and woolly Westerners come on in tho sketch, “Out West,” their antics beat anything ever thought of by the most absurd American. The audience receive all their jokes with screams of laughter. The Charleston Symphonic Six Jazz Band plays every evening, led by Les Clements, the pianist. They play all the latest jazz and popular music and • always receive an attentive hearing.
