THREW PLATES ON FLOOR
MAN FROM DIOMEDE FINED Being dissatisfied with his dinner, Edward Lintott, a mechanician from H.M.S. Diomede, swept the plates to the floor and declined to foot the bill. This morning at the Police Court, Lintott, aged 33, pleaded g-fiilty to committing mischief by breaking three plates, valued at three shillings, and belonging to Luka Parun. Sub-Inspector McCarthy understood that Lintott, who was slightly under the influence of liquor, had gone to a restaurant. There he ordered dinner, but decided when it arrived that he did not want it. He declined to ]say for it and expressed his annoyance by sweeping the plates to the floor. Commissioned Gunner Pryce, of the Diomede, promising that any monetary penalty would be met immediately, Lintott was fined £ 1 and ordetred to make good the damage.
