TYPHOID EPIDEMIC THREATENS LYONS
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9 a.m. LONDON, Monday. The “Daily Mail’s” correspondent at Lyons, in France, reports that a typhoid fever epidemic, involving 3,000 persons, threatens to overwhelm the medical and sanitary authorities. The isolation hospitals are packed. Already there are seven deaths. A judicial inquiry has been opened. It is believed the epidemic is due *o contamination of the city's drinking water.
