Auckland Has Camp at Last
Motorists will Pitch Petits at Showgrounds
The Auckland Automobile Association has completed negotiations with the Auckland A. and P. Association to open a motor camp at the Epsom Showgrounds for the convenience of visiting motorists during t.he summer months. The camp will be available early in December, and a caretaker will be in ’constant attendance until after Easter.
A bunk-house, with some 40 bunks, wash-basins and sanitary conveniences, will be available, and there is ample space to provide for over *>oo cars. Penny-n-the-slot gas rings are being provided under the pavilions, and every effort is being made to cater for travelling motorists. The ground is surrounded by a high hedge and is well sheltered, and, being within two or three minutes’ walk of the tramline, should fulfil a long-needed want. Those motorists who use a tent of which the car forms one side, will thus be enabled to establish camp and then visit the theatres or pictures in the evening without disturbing' their car. The camp is also conveniently situated for visiting the hundreds of seaside beaches and points of scenic interest with which Auckland abounds The, charge to be levied is 3s a night, and taking into consideration the value of the land, it is very reasonable’ ) “susses TUI GLEN CAMP The privately-owned motorists’ camp at Tui Glen should also be well pat-" ronised this year. This delightful camp is certainly a few miles from town, but it is ideal for those who want a quiet holiday.
