Be it ever so humble, there's no car like your own. The De Soto Six, the new Chrysler product, will be on the market in Auckland shortly. It is in the popular price class, and is selling from 545 dollars upward in America. Universal joints should te kept well greased. When an unusual noise or rattle is heard under the car, examine all the bolts holding the universal torque tube and housing. Should these break, considerable damage will be done. I had to turn off the switch myself, and tell him there was something wrong. * * * For 3 929 the Vauxliall Company has made detail improvements to the 20-60-h.p. model produced last year. The bore of the engine has been increased by two millimetres, resulting in an increase in capacity from 2,762 c.c. to 2,190 c.c. After each ocean “hop” the lubricant was drained from the engine of the Southern Cross. This routine was followed irrespective of the conditions of the oil. On the flight from Blenheim to Sydney there was a loss of only 8 per cent, in texture and weight. Bust or dirt on the reflector or glass of a lamp will substantially cut down the light on the road. To clean the reflector use a very soft, clean cloth without using pressure, and rub in a circular motion. Never rub a reflector with a cloth which is covered with dust or grit. A poQr mixture will make the engine miss when running idle at low speods, and at high speeds it will not only cause misfiring but the missing will be accompanied by “popping” in the carburettor. Faulty ignition may, however, cause “popping” and explosions in the muffler. ♦ * * Motor-bus competition has caused such severe losses to the Hoer-Boerby railway line, one of the oldest in Sweden, that the operators have asked Government permission to abandon the route. A few years ago the line was one of the most prosperous in the country, but the more elastic passenger and freight service provided by bus in the densely populated area attracted most of the patronage, and trains recently have been running virtually empty :
