ORANGE BLOSSOMS
HOUGHTON—HOUGHTON An interesting - wedding, in which the *>ride belonged to a, well-known Raetihi fajnily, was recently celebrated in fet. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, Wellington, the bride being Dr. Kell Houghton, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Houghton of “Pukehro.” Raetihi, and the bridegroom the Rev. Percy Houghton, M.A., vicar of Brooklyn, third son of Mrs. W. C. Houghton, of Paignton, South Devon, England, and the late Rev. W. C. Houghton. The ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Wellington, assisted by the Rev. J. O. Abbott, of Palmerston North, the latter being an old schoolfellow of the bridegroom in England, and a former vicar of Raetihi, the bride's homo town. Dr. D. Gillies, of Palmerston North, Miss Joy Pearson, of Lower Hutt, and Miss Jean Stewart, of Eltham, attended in support of the bride and Mr. R. W. Botbamley was best man. A guard of honour of the Brooklyn Girl Guides, under their captain, Mrs. Middleton, was present at the Cathedral. A guwn of ivory mariette, with appliques of lace on ' bodice and skirt, the latter gracefully draped at the side, was worn by the bride, whose bouquet consisted of native kowhai, white azaleas, lilies of the valley and maidenhair fern. The chief bridesmaid, Dr. D. Gillies, wore ochre coloured mariette, with cliantilly lace, and a quaint Victorian hat of powder blue. Miss Pearson and Miss Stewart, who also attended the bride, were frocked in pink taffetas, with cream picture hats. The bride’s mother wore a gown of black silk marocain and georgette.
