MUSICIANS TO MEET

PROGRESS OF AUCKLAND SOCIETY During the 26 years of existence of the Auckland Society of Musicians, the membership has risen to 98 professional and 104 associate members. This evening, the annual meeting of the society will be held. The council's report says that a Musicians Registration Act has been passed by Parliament and will come into force in 1929. A conference will be held in Wellington in January to discuss business questions in connection with the registration of musicians. Delegates from all parts of New Zealand will attend. The council has opened a scholarship fund, and a concert for the fund, held on September 25, realised £4O. The balance sheet of th« society shows a credit of £l4l.
