“ABIE’S IRISH ROSE”
It 1s announced from the Paramount studios in Hollywood that the Paramount screen picturisation of the famous stage play of Anne Nichols, •Abie’s Irish Rose,’ will be seen next yutr in blew Zealand, .should the theatres in the principal cities be sottnd-equipped by that time. New Zealand audiences will also hear the voices of Nancy Carroll and Charles Rogers in the picture.
A new story. ‘ Marquis Preferred,” has been purchased by Paramount for the next Adolphe Menjou starring production to follow "His Private Life,” at present filming at the Paramount studios. Frank Tuttle, who is directing the latter picture, will also have charge of "Marquis Preferred.”
David Torrance, famous stage and screen star, plays Lilian Gish's father in the role of Sir Robert Laurie, famous Scottish historic character in "Annie Laurie,” Miss Gish’s new photo-play, to be screened shortly In Auckland. It is a vivid drama of the Highlands, in which a huge cast of principals and several thousand others take part.
