Railway Time-table Alterations to the railway time-table art* advertised in this issue. The alterations will come into force on Sunday. December 2. Governor-General as Mason liis Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, has arrived in Dunedin in connection with the annual communication of the Grand Masonic Lodge. He will be reinstalled as Grand Master. Mar-ton Flooded A cloudburst was experienced in Marten yesterday afternoon. Following a violent thunderstorm threequarters of an inch of rain fell in less than a quarter of an hour, and the streets were under water. Several shops were flooded and considerable damage was done. French Princess Weds Four thousand Royalists on Sunday marched past Princess Francoise, daughter of the Duke ot Guise, pretender to the throne of France. The demonstration was organised to do homage to the Princess on the eve of her marriage to Prince Christopher of Greece. * * * “Telegraphese” Objection having been made to the use of the abbreviated form of “Rev. Smith” and “Rev. Jones” in church records, the Moderator of the General Assembly, Professor W. Hewitson, added his condemnation of the “abomination” which he described as “telegraphese.” He said he was disgusted to see it used in Church papers. New School Chapel The new chapel at King’s School, Remuera, which was converted from one of the wooden blocks attached to the school, will be dedicated by the Primate, Archbishop Averill, at 10 o'clock on Thursday morning. The chapel has been built from two class-rooms, the master’s commonroom and a dormitory. In the evening an old boys’ and parents’ service will be conducted by the headmaster, the Rev. J. G. Castle. Sketch Club Show Visitors continue to throng the exhibition of the Auckland Sketch Club, and the attendances yesterday and this morning were particularly good. Further sales have been made by the following: Mrs. Younghusbund (two pictures), Mrs. Spicer (two). Miss Vallance Young tone), Mrs. Whyte (one), Miss Eise (one), Miss Wiseman (one). Miss Copeland (one). The art union will oe drawn at nine o’clock this evening, and the show will be continued for several days. Further Sheep Awards Additional awards in the sheep sections at the Auckland A. and P. Association’s Show are announced as follow: — Metropolitan championship for Romney Mursli ram was won by J* W. Denseon. . The North Island championship for Southdown rams was won by G. R. and H. Hutchinson. . , The Southdown Sheep Society s medal for the best tivo-tooth Southdown ram was won by G. K. and ±±. Hutchinson. * * * Divided Seamen The factional fight which has disturbed the Australian Seamen's Union for the past three years has been transferred to the Federal Arbitration Court, for settlement, Mr, Johnson's followers having decided to apply for registration. Mr. Tom Walshs section has already lodged such application. , Mr. Walsh describes the Johnsonian move as a bluff, since that section had three years in which to register but alwa3’s scouted the idea. The Johnson men state, on the other ha.nd. that the seamen were induced to join Walsh’s union under false pretences, and are now repudiating it.
