Who’s Who on the Ulimaroa

With over 200 passengers on board the Ulimaroa arrived from Sydney at mid-day to-day. The voyage was rather choppy and consequently many of the passengers did not appear until the vessel reached the harbour. Mr. J. A. Huncan and Mrs. Huncan were among those who returned after spending a holiday in Australia. Mr. Balfour Irvine and Mrs. Irvine returned after holiday-making in Sydney. Mr. Irvine says that the harbour bridge is now rapidly taking shape. * * * The popularity of the New Zealand Government scenic films was mentioned by Mr. V. E. Edwards, who has come from Sydney to join the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film organisation in Wellington. These films, he says, are doing very well in Australia and satisfy everyone. While lie is in New Zealand Mr. Edwards will arrange for more New Zealand scenic§ for exhibition in the Commonwealth. * * * “A cosmopolitan bowler” is how Mr. V. Casey now describes himself. He has spent three months in Sydney and Melbourne. When the New South Wales bowlers come to New Zealand on January 2 Air. Casey will play for them against the New Zealanders. “I don’t mind where I play, so long as I get a good game,” he said this morning. * * * Hr. L. B. Hay, of Borneo, has come to New Zealand on holiday. He had nothing to say about his life in the tropics, except that he was glad to get into a cooler climate. Forty-two years ago Pastor A_. G. Daniells, Seventh Hay Adventist, came to Auckland fro mWashington, TJ.S.A., and fell in love with it. He returned this morning keen to see the Dominion again. Pastor Haniells was the first member of this organisation to come to New Zealand. He stayed in tho Hominion for four yeau-s and then went to Australia, where lie held the position of president of the General Conference of Seventh Hay Adventists for 21 years. While in New Zealand this time Pastor Haniells will address camp meetings at Christchurch and Auckland. He is accompanied by Pastor W. W. Fletcher. * * * Alany passengers, transhipped from passing through Auckland on his way to America. In common with other noted wrestlers who have spent the past season in Australia, Kilonis is hurrying to be in the United States for the opening of the winter season there. He is highly delighted with his stay in the Commonwealth, and speaks well of the future in store for wrestling there. Many passengers transhipped from the new liner Orford, arrived in Auckland from London. Included among these were a number of young New Zealand doctors who are returning after completing their medical courses in London. Among the medical men who arrived to-day were Hrs. J. Nicholson, H. McLeod, and J. McKenzie.

Helighted with the results of his fishing tour in New Zealand last year. Air. W. Anderson, n Englishman, has returned for another season. He will stay in Auckland for a few days, afterwards proceeding south to Taupo and other resorts. Tie intends, also, to go after the big fish at Whangaroa, which he considers will yield the best sport.
