AVERY firm tone is registered in the market for all the better-class securities on ’Change.
Banks nr© in keen demand. Unions c*C Australia have eager buyers at ’£ls 7s 6d, while South British Insurance are sought at 645, following sales in the South at 64s 3d. Insurance section still attracts considerable attention, all shares remaining exceedingly high. In the loan and agency, National Mortgage have steady buyers at 87s. New Zealand and River Plate have keen buyers at 32s 6d. New Zealand ljoan and Mercantile, both ordinary and preference stocks, are keenly watched, no sellers quoting. + * * Coal shares remain quiet. Hikurangi ordinary and preference are sought after; Pukemiro have sellers at 6Ss, no buyers appearing. Renown, both ordinary and preference, have steady buyers at market rates. Taupiri preference are also in demand.
There are steady buyers for woollen shares, all three issues of Kaiapoi receiving attention, while Wellington, both ordinary and preference, have eager buyers at £7 and £7 2s 6d respectively. * * * Hill and Plummer remain firm ex dividend, with buyers at 225. H.M. Arcade Theatre preference have buyers at 21s, no shares offering. Milne and Choyce are exceedingly firm, no sellers quoting. New Zealand Farmers’ Fertiliser are sought after at 17s 6d. * * * Yesterday afternoon’s business.—On ’Change: New Zealand Insurance, £2 7s. Reported: Colonial Sugar (Australia), £59.
