Excellent Prospects for Takapuna’s Day

SPRING MEETING NEXT WEEK BIG ACCEPTANCES FOR FRIDAY Excellent acceptances were received yesterday by the secretary, Mr. P. D. McVay, for the opening day's sport of the Takapuna Jockey Club’s spring meeting-, to be held on Friday next, St. Andrew’s Day, and Saturday, November 30. and December 1. All round the fields are splendid, and there should be some stirring contests witnessed next week. The Alison Cup, the principal event, has drawn a select field, all but one (and this was the Ally Prodice) of the dozen horses entered having their engagement continued. The two short open contests, together with the race for two-year-olds, have attracted quality as well as quantity. Present indications point to the hack “classic,” the Takapuna Plate, being run in divisions, for those remaining in the seven-furlong race exceed by ten the safety number, which is 24.
