BIG DEMAND FOR FEATHERS
WOMEN WHO WEAR THEM TO-DAY CLIPPED OSTRICH Grandmother cherishes the days when ostrich feathers made huge boas and trailing headgear for the fashionable women, of frilly petticoats and steel-boned stays, and is quite oblivious of the fact that never before were ostrich feathers so in demand as at present. It is true that the long ostrich feather is rarely seen, but clipped ostrich feathers claim a prominent place not only in millinery and dressmaking, but also in the shoe trade. Quite the latest buckle for evening shoes is made of dyed ostrich tips. Rainbow-tinted tips form colourful bands that encircle the crown of many a model hat. Small evening bags are appliqued with tiny feathers and diamente, and frocks and cloaks feature tiers of soft shaded feathers like magnificent down. Ostrich feather fans, ot course, have always been in the running, hut the new posies of spidery feathers are very up-to-date.
