“THE DOVE”
NORMA TALMADGE AGAIN “The Dove,” a play by Willard Mack, was first produced by David Belasco, and ran for more than a year on Broadway. In the screen version Miss Talmadgo acts the part of “Dolores Romero,” the third Belasco role Norma Talmadge has brought to the screen. . “Tho Dove,” which is coming to Auckland shortly, was directed by Roland West, associate producer in tho Joseph M. Schenck organisation. The supporting cast is a notable one, including Gilbert Roland, who appeared as “Armand Duval” with Miss Talmadge in “Camille,” and Noah Beery. Michael Vavitch, of the Moscow Art Musical Studio, Harry Myers, and Evelyn Selbie.
The screen version of “The Dove” is laid in Costa Roja, a mythical, semitropical land. Against this colourful background the story of the dance hall girl gives Miss Talmadge one of the most dramatic and vivid roles in her career.
Graham Cutts, the producer of the famous “Rat” series, starring Ivor Xovello, has rejoined Gainsborough studios, of which firm he was an original director. The new sequel to “The Rat” is now in course of production under the title “The Return of the Rat.” Ivor Novello will again play the title role.
