Won by two lengths, half a head between second and third. Time, 3.35 2-5. Tomkinson had a ride-in-the-park kind of victory with the three-year-old Hinkler, who led all the way to win the Hutt Park Trial Handicap very ea sily from Baron Bingen, who had to go Wide going put of the straight the last time through Halmore breaking and carrying him out. With half a mile covered in 1.16 1-5, only five of the 21 starters had any chance. They were' Hinkler, Baron Bingen, Harold Lee, Rafa and Lightfoot. Rafa was with Hinkler for nine furlongs, where Baron Bingen joined Hinkler in the lead, the mile having been left behind in 2.27. At the head of the straight Baron Bingen was being/urged to head Hinkler, but Hin’ f r just played with him. Rafa finished well, being only a neck behind Baron Bingen. Harold Lee and Lightfoot went solidly all the way, but nothing had the ghost of a chance of beaming Hinkler. NAI NAI HANDICAP TROT Of £200; 3.45 class; miles 6—KITTY PATCH, 12yds 1 3 LONESOME, 60yds . . . . . . .., .. 2 I—NANCY BINGEN, Limit 3 Scratched: Tot Logan, Black Patch. Won by a short length, four lengths between second and third. Time, 3.41. This was a poor contest. Great Way and Victor Bingen made a break going away, and with a furlong covered they still were in the air, and caused Nancy Bingen to go up to a break. Kitty Patch was in front at the end of two furlongs. She was threatened by Lonesome over the last half-mile, who spoilt a good chance of winning by making three breaks over that part of the journey. Kitty Patch won easily at the end. Hardy Grattan was going well in third place when he broke five furlongs from home. Kyra, Great Way, Victor Bingen, Cairnvale, and Miss Leda all gave bad displays.
