Round the Churches
The Rev. F. Carew Thomas will preach at the morning- service in the Cathedral, St. Mary’s, to-morrow morning. In the evening Canon Percival James will preach, and the service will be followed by an organ recital. * * * The Edendale Presbyterian Church will continue the celebrations of the 40th aniversary of its Sunday School to-morrow. The Rev. John Laird will speak in the morning, the Rev. C. J. Tocker, of Invercargill, in the afternoon, and the Rev. W. BowerBlack, of Christchurch, in the evening. At the Somervell Presbyterian Church to-morrow the Rev. J. Gibb will preach in the morning, Sister Heather, the Maori missionary, in the afternoon, and the Rev. W. R. Hutchinson in the evening. * * * Canon Grant Cowen will speak at the morning service in St. Matthew’s. Wellesley Street, to-morrow, and in the evening the Re.v. F. Carew Thomas will preach. There will be solos at t*Dth services. * * * The Associated Churches of Christ will hold evening services to-morrow at Ponsonby Road, Dominion Road. Oneliungu, Richmond, Avondale, Dev, onport, and Point Chevalier, as well as a morning service at Onehunga. • * * The Spiritual Scientists’ Church will hold an open Lyceum Circle at 3 p.m. to-morrow. At 7 p.m. Mrs. HarrisRoberts will give an address on “The Three Johns.” Other services will be held during the week. * * * At to-morrow evening’s meeting in the Methodist Central Mission, Mr. A. Hamblin, leader of the men’s work, will give an address. At France Street, Mr. F. C. Pace will speak. The Mount Roskill Methodist Sunday School will celebrate its fourth anniversary to-morrow. The preachers will be Dr. Laws, the Rev. L. B. Dalby and the Rev. H. H. Jeffreys in the morning, afternoon and evening respectively. * * * The Rev. Arthur Mitchell will conclude his second series of Sunday evening addresses in St. John’s Methodist Church, Ponsonby Road, to-morrow evening. His subject will be, “Jesus Christ, same to-day and for ever.” To-morrow morning, in the Grange Road Baptist Church, Mr. L. O. Stanton will speak. In the evening the Rev. A. S. Wilson will give an address to young people, entitled •'Minding Your Own Business.” * # * The First Church of Christ, Scientist, will hold morning and evening services as usual to-morrow. The subject will be “Soul and Body.” * * * The Progressive Spiritualists’ Church, Newmarket, will hold an open circle to-morrow afternoon. At 7 p.m. a service will be conducted by Mrs. Hudson. ** ' * To-morrow afternoon’s service for men in the Y.M.C.A. will be held at 4.15 p.m. The speaker will be Mr. Vic. French, the well-known worker among young people.
