AWAPUNI'S PROGRESS

THREE NEW GRASS TRACKS Press Association PALMERSTON N., To-day. The Manawatu Racing: Club threw open to trainers this morning the three new grass training tracks, which have taken over two years to complete. The occasion was marked by a horse owned by the club president, Mr. C. Louisson, being the first to gallop thereon. The addition gives the club seven grass gartops, apart from the plough and sand tracks, and should meet the requirements of the hundred or more horses in training at the local centre at the present time. The cost of the preparation of the new tracks is estimated at £2,500. Considerable extra work was entailed as a result of the trenches, etc., made by trainees in the camp at Awapuni during war time.
