To-da' Political interest is now focus- d on the live doubtful seats in th House of Representatives, namely. Herbert and Kennedy (Queensland*. Boothbv South Australia), Franklin and Denison (Tasmania). Present indications are that Hi Government candidates w ill vin three and Labour two, the abse;u«v votes, which are now being counted, favouring the retiring members in each instance. It is noteworthy that these particular electorates invariably provide neck-and-neck tussles with a mere handful of votes separating the c*ndidates at the finish. The present state of parties for the House of Representatives is ns tollows: Nationalists Country Party u Labour .. . 27 Doubtful .. •« .. 5 The counting for the Senate is still proceeding. The prospects are that Labour will w’in from the Governnieir. three seats each in New South Wales. South Australia and Queensland, a total of nine; but the issue in Victoria and Western Australians still dotib ful.
