BIG MILL DESTROYED
GREAT TIMBER BLAZE AT MOKAI THREE RAILWAY TRUCKS BURNED Press Association ROTORUA, To-day. The Taupo Timber Company’s big mill at Mokai was totally destroyed by fire at 5.20 a.m. to-day, according to a message received from Oruanui. PHREJE trucks in the loading shed ~ were also burned. Nothing was saved. The mill was the biggest totara operating mill in the Dominion. FIRE AT THAMES DESTRUCTION OF STORE EARLY LANDMARK REMOVED (Prom Our Own Correspondent) THAMES, To-day. Fire at 1.30 this morning completely cstroyed a large building in Brown otreet used as a store and belonging to A. and G. Price, Ltd., engineers. The origin is unknown, but the building was well alight when the alarm was given, and was threatening a row of two-storeyed shops opposite. The brigade made a splendid save of a new residence adjoining. The building was insured for £450 and the contents for £6O. The store was a well-known landmark, and in the early coaching days was known as Hawke’s Stables.
