MAJESTIC
“HANGMAN’S HOUSE” THIS EVENING Victor McLaglen, rated as the greatest character portrayer before the camera,- since his performances in the leading roles of “What Price Glory,” “A Girl in Every Port,” “Carmen” and “Mother Machree,” is said to reach new heights of histrionic achievement in “Hangman’s House,” which will head the big new programme at the Majestic Theatre this evening. In the cast with McLaglen are Hobart Bos worth, June Collyer, Earle Foxe, Harry Kent and other film artists of undisputed rank. McLaglen plays the part of Citizen Hogan in this dramatic story, and is s.aid to be ideal for the part. He starts as a member of the Foreign Legion and ends as an avenger in Ireland. Mystery surrounds his mission and tragedy hovers over him as he follows his foe through the bogs and peatlands of Erin. Miss Collyer, playing her fourth consecutive lead for Fox, is seen as Connaught O’Brien. Larry Kent, one of the most successful among the younger screen players, is said to give a splendid account of himself as Dermott McDermott. He is the romantic lead and he has much vital action with Earle Foxe, the menace, and with Hobart Bosworth, cast as “Jimmy the Hangman.” An excellent selection of supporting pictures will be presented this evening, including a New Zealand scenic of the River Avon in Christchurch, the ever-interesting Majestic Hews, a comedy, and a fine nature study, entitled “The Struggle for Existence.” During the absence of Mr. J. Whiteford Waugh, conductor, the Majestic Orchestra will be led by Mr. Haydn Murray, first violin. The orchestral interlude this evening, under his baton, will be “Gilbert and Sullivan Airs.”
