WARSHIPS VULNERABLE FROM AIR (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Wednesday. The “Daily Express” understands that recent naval experiments are causing anxiety to the Admiralty, especially the discharge of torpedoes from airplanes against battleships and cruisers; also wirelessly-directed torpedoes. It is revealed that warships are extremely vulnerable to this new- form of attack, which is likely to necessitate extensive modifications in future building programmes.
