TALLYMEN’S AWARD
FILED BY ARBITRATION COURT AUCKLAND REGULATIONS With a currency of two years, until December 3, 1930, a new award for Auckland tallymen has been filed by the Arbitration Court. For ordinary time, the wages have been fixed at 2s sld an hour. The regulations apply to the port of Auckland only. Mr. Justice Frazer, in a memorandum attached to the award, states that the principal Question in dispute concerning the fixing of the award related to the employment of permanent tallymen other than foremen, clerks, storemen, or similar employees. The Arbitration Court, he explains, has decided to leave the question open to enable an application, making definite suggestions, to be filed regarding such workers. The court is prepared to consider an application on its merits. At present, insufficient material is available to the court to enable it to deal with the question.
