ODD JOBS WANTED
CHAMBER of commerce and unemployed APPEAL TO AUCKLANDERS This morning the Auckland Chamber of Commerce held a consultation with the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, and as a result, an appeal ,S being made to the citizens of Auckland, asking them to help to solve the unemployment problem. Although the general business out--I,lok is good, says the appeal, the un--mployment situation has been slow in reacting in sympathy with the improved economic conditions, and rtrre is still much distress among the unemployed and their wives and children. ..... * The appeal goes on to ask citizens to nut in hand, as soon as possible before Christmas, any work about their houses r business premises which might give employment and which, in any case, would become necessary during the next 1 - months, and advises citizens that, if they wish to hire skilled or unskilled labour, they should forward their requirements to the Chamber of Commerce, which will pass on the details to the Unemployment Bureau of the Labour Department.
