CHURCH’S GREATEST WORK
CHRISTIAN MISSIONS CONFERENCE AT JERUSALEM “Christian missionary work of today is the greatest work the Church is doing,” said tlie Rev. David Calder in the course of an address on “Jerusalem, 1928,” at the annual meeting of the British and Foreign Bible Society last evening. Mr. Calder represented tlie New Zealand Missionary Association at the International Missionary Conference held in Jerusalem this year, and a large number of people assembled at St. Sepulchre’s Parish Hall to hear him speak. The Primate, Archbishop Averil], was in the chair. At the conference in Jerusalem, said Mr. Calder. there were 240 representatives of 51 distinct nations, and the proceedings were conducted in the English language, which was spoken by all but two of the representatives. The ivhole of the proceedings were carried out in fine spirit. Mr. Calder went on to explain his experiences and the places he had seen, including tlie Holy Sepulchre. Personalities of the conference were also described as well as the business done, and tho items discussed there. Archbishop Averill expressed the thanks of the congregation to Mr. Calder for his interesting and instructive address.
