CRICKETERS ANGRY AT LOSS OF DOMAIN
MATCHES INCOMPLETE GIRL GUIDES’ DISPLAY Next Saturday the Domain will be used for a Girl Guides’ display. Last evening the Auckland Cricket Association and the Sub- • urban and City Association voiced strong protests on account of their being forced to cancel competition matches. The Suburban Association will suffer most. Occupation of the Domain will leave important senior games half finished.
Mr. J. F.W. Dickson, chairman of the Suburban Management Committee, said it was very unfair to about 300 cricketers to be deprived of their sport “when at least three other suitable grounds were available. The Remuera nockey ground, recently acquired for the girlhood of
Auckland, was not J. F. W. Dickson being used. Several delegates blamed the civic authorities for granting use of the Domain, which is patronised mostly for cricket. No action was taken, but all the senior games were cancelled for a week. Several of the Auckland Association lower grade games are affected and the association chairman, Mr. E. E. Nalder, will wait upon the City Council. Both associations were emphatic that they had claim to the Domain to complete their matches instead of being compelled to wait for two weeks.
