REVEALED IN “HEART OF A NATION” Edward Sloman, actor, writer and director, is responsible for the splendid direction of the new Universal drartui, “Heart of a Nation,’* which lias un aH-star cast. May McAvoy, as the girl in question, gets her balance, however, after some pretty hard bumps. This ritzy, rollicking heart story of a carnival girl was adapted for the screen by Robert Lord and the supporting cast includes Alec H. Francis. Robert Frazer, Virginia Lee Corbin, John Miljan and Frances Leo. NOTED NOVELISTS’ STORIES Columbia Pictures has acquired the potion picture rights to “Acquitted,” by Mary Roberts Rinehart, and “Restless Souls,” by Cosmo Hamilton. Both of these stories will serve as vehicles for prominent stars on Columbia's li*2B-29 programme. “Acquitted” is a powerful character study of a man who, although proved innocent, has to bear through life the s hgma of a man accused of murder. “Restless.
