PRINCE EDWARD

“THE PLAY GIRL” Madge Bellamy never had a better role than that of Madge Logan in “The Play Girl,” now at the Prince Edward Theatre. She is a little shop girl, who craves society and beautiful clothes, a common failing. At the opening of the story Madge loses her job because of her ready wit and a crabby boss, a combination thgit sometimes proves disastrous. However, she meets two young men who endeavour to show her the town. One shows her via a limousine, while the other believes in doing the town via the footpaths in good old pedestrian style. Pretty soon her shoes give out and the limousine gets in a good day’s work. The fine picture, “Huntingtower,” in which Sir Harry Lauder has the leading role, is also on the programme. “The Lady of the Lake,” from Scott’s well-known novel, is being made into a film by James Fitzpatrick. Scenes are at present being made in the Scottish highlands. Percy Marmont and Benita Hume have leading roles, also Haddon Mason and James Carew. “The Lady of the Lake” will be a British Dominions films release in New Zealand.
