TAUMARUNUI CLUB
ONE-DAY FIXTURE (Special to THE SUN) TAUMARUNUI, Monday. The annual meeting- of the Taumarunui Racing Club will be held on December 8, and the prospects are good for an interesting day's sport. To-dajj. the programme was officially announced as follows: Trial Plate, of £75, six furlongs; Taringamotu Hack Handicap, of £BO, six furlongs; Taumarunui Cup, of £2OO, one and a-quarter miles; Matapuna Hack Handicap, of £BS, five furlongs; Hack Hurdle Race, of £BS, one and ahalf miles; Matiere Hack Handicap, of £BS. seven furlongs; Rangaroa Plying, of £lO5, six furlongs; Owhango Hack, of £ 85. one mile. The committee has been paying attention to the course, and improvements have been effected that will certainly meet the approval of those who are already familiar -with the excellent conditions prevailing at this one of the smaller meetings. The conduct of last year's two-day meeting was very favourably commented upon by owners and others . closely connected with racing, and it is anticipated tliat everyone interested in the sport will be more than satisfied this year. Given fine weather, the prospects for Taumarunui’s 1928 meeting are decidedly promising. Nomination close with the secretary, Mr. Sam Sarah, Taumarunui, at 5 p.m. on November 24.
