VETERAN MOTOR-CARS
RACE FOR OLD-TIMERS British Official Wireless. RUGBY, Monday. Forty-three motor-cars, all of which were more than 25 years old, were driven from London to Brighton today in celebration of the 32nd anniversary of a similar run held in 1896, when it became no longer necessary for a man with a red flag to precede a motor-car on the English highways. Compared with modern models, the cars in to-day’s race, few of which were fitted with windscreens, looked extremely primitive. The oldest car in the procession was 35 years old. The early cars evidently were stoutly built. Many of those on exhibition are still in use almost daily. Some have original sparking plugs, a few have under gone extensive mechanical repairs and one two-cylinder car is still fitted with one of the tyres with which it was equipped when it was first pur chased
