SIR R. SQUIRES IN OFFICE PERSONNEL ANNOUNCED (Australian and N.Z Press Association) (United Service) ST. JOHNS, Monday. The new Government of Newfoundland has assumed office under Sir Richard Squires. The personnel of the Cabinet is: Prime Minister and Justice —Sir Richard Squires. Finance and Customs—Mr. Peter Cassin. Post and Telegraphs—Mr. W. W. Halfyard. Colonial Secretary—Mr. Arthur Barnes. Fisheries —Mr. Clyde Lake. Public Works—Mr. Richard Hibbs. Agriculture and Mines—Mr. Joseph Downey. Ministers Without Portfolios—Sir William Coaker, Mr. T. Cook, Dr. A. Campbell, Mr. P. J. Lewis, Dr. Harris M. Mosdell and Mr. F. G. Bradley. The general election in Newfoundland at the end of last month resulted in Mr. P. C. Allardyce’s Government being defeated. The Opposition, then led by Sir Richard. Squires, secured 21 seats and the then Government 9. Sir Richard was Prime Minister, 1919-23.
