LAST TWO PLACES CHOOSING REPRESENTATIVES An election seems to be necet sary to fill the last two places on the Transport Board, there beino four nominations already f 0 ® the vacancies. By nominating Mr. E. H. Potte Mayor of Mount Eden, the Newmarket Borough Council obviated an election for the two representatives of Xhfum Eden, Mount Albert, and Newmarket Mr. E. E. Rhodes, Mayor of Mount Albert, being the other nomination The last two places on the boiard are to represent the borough council of Onehunga, the road boards of M our , Roskill. One Tree Hill, and Mount Wellington; the town board of Ellers lie; and the l’anmure Township Hoad Board. So far, Onehunga has nomi nated Mr. F. S. Morton; Ellerslie M" A. Milliken; Mount Wellington, Messrs E. F. Jones and R. G. Clark; and Mount Roskill. its chairman, Mr. E. F. Jones One Tree Hill will decide its nomi nation to-morrow night, and possiblv the choice will fall on Mr. R. G. Clark, who has already been nominated bv Mount Wellington. Panmure's choice has not yet been announced. With four nominations for two vacancies, it seems that an election will be necessary. Only members of the local bodies concerned will be allowed to vote at the poll, and the Minister will prescribe the method. CHANGING OVER The Transport Board Act prescribe, certain formalities before the board can function fully. Within one month of the date when the Act came into operation—that is, immediately upon the gazetting of the results of the poii* —the Auckland City Council was required to hold a special meeting to elect six members to ’he board. The representatives elected were the Mayor (Mr. G. Baildon), Messrs. J. a C. Allum, G. Ashley, E. Phelan, A. ,i. Entrican, and M. Coyle.

The first board may be summoned by the Mayor of Auckland, and within one month of its first meeting the board will take over the City Council's tramway' and omnibus system. There is a possibility of the undertakinc changing hands at the earliest convenient date, namely, December 1.
