WORLD’S FIRST TENS T^ETERMI NED, perhaps, to get ahead of some of the wiseacres, Vincent Richards has prepared and had published two World's first ten rankings for amateurs ar.d professionals. They appeared in the New York “World”—curiously enough, both Tilden and Richards are writing for that journal—and are here given. Amateur 1. Henri Cochet 2. Rene Lacoste 3. Wm. T. Tilden 4. F. T. Hunter 5. George Lott 6. John Hennessey 7. J. Crawford 8. H. W. Austin 9. Baron Morpurgo. 10. Jack Hawkes Professional 1. Karl Kozeluh 2. Vincent Richards 3. Howard Kinsey 4. Albert Burke 5. Ramon Najuch 6. H. Snodgrass 7. J. Negro 8. Paul Heston 9. Charles Wood 10. Richler or Tommy Burke First tens are not easy at any stage, and that of the pros is a bizarre affair. “One can imagine Virn!e preparing it with his tongue in his cheek.” says “American Lawn Tennis.” ’ It is noticeable that the Englishman, Austin, who was placed sixth by S. Wallis Myers, falls twc places in Richards’s estimation, and is behind the Australian, Crawford.
