ANTARCTIC WHALING
AUSTRALIA SHOULD SHARE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 9.5 a.m. ADELAIDE, To-day. Addressing Rotarians, Mr. C. T. Madigan commented on the economic importance of the Antarctic whale fisheries, which are being exploited by Norwegians. An international agreement was required to prevent the extinction of the whales. The terrific polar winds might some day be harnessed for power.
Australia should send another expedition to follow up the work done 14 years ago, and to claim the land, which was flagged then, though their colonisation might prove a delicate question, since France could claim a bounty on certain lands discovered long ago.
