SLEEPING IN PARKS

OLD MAN FINDS REFUGE A home Has been found for Alexander Mellis, who has been sleeping in parks since coming out of gaol on August 13. Mellis, a labourer, aged 65, pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning to being idle and disorderly, having insufficient visible means of support. According to Senior-Sergeant Cummings, Mellis had 40 previous convictious, the last being for begging alms. On Staff-Captain Holmes offering to find the old man a place in the Salvation Army Home, Mellis was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence w'ithin six months if called upon. “He should be quite happy in the home," remarked Mr. F. K. Hum. SAL
