TAURANGA JUBILEE

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ANNIVERSARY On December 2 the congregation of the Tauranga Presbyterian Church will commence the celebration of the diamond jubilee of the formation of the congregation and the opening of the church. The first minister, the Rev. G. Morris, arrived at Tauranga from Scotland in August, 1868, and the church was opened on November 30, 1878. The churches at Katikati and Te Puke emanated from Tauranga. The juiblee celebrations will take the form of special jubilee services in the church on Sunday, December 2, a social for adults on December 4 and an entertainment for the children on December 7. The church is being renovated and completely redecorated in view of these services. The preacher at the services on December 2 will be the Rev. Ivo E. Bertram, who officiated recently at St. David’s, Auckland, during the absence on furlough of the Rev. D. C. Herron.
