NEW PRIESTS ORDAINED

AUCKLAND CEREMONY BISHOP CLEARY OFFICIATES AT CATHEDRAL Two priests gave their first benedictions in Auckland last evening. They were Father Charles Von Rotter and Father Alfred Bennett, both of whom had been ordained to the priesthood at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in the morning by Bishop Cleary. The impressive ceremonial was witnessed by a large congregation, the relatives of the young priests being also in attendance. The Bishop’s assistants were Archdeacon Holbrook, Monsignor Ormond and Dr. Buxton. The new priests were both educated in Auckland at the Marist Brothers’ schools, and studied for the priesthood at Holy Cross College, Mosgiel. In the evening Father Von Rotter gave benediction at St. Benedict’s Church, and Father Bennett officiated at St. Joseph’s, Grey Lynn.
