GIRL GIVEN CHANCE

STOLE FROM EMPLOYER “HAS HAD HARD TIME” A girl who had succumbed to temptation and stolen dress materials from her employer, was given a chance by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., this morning. The girl, a domestic aged 19. pleaded guilty to the theft of dress materials valued at £l7 10s. and £1 10s in money. The thefts were said to have take place on October 31 and November 16.

According to Chief-Detective 11ammond accused had been working for complainant, and, being short of clothes, had stolen the dress materials and made frocks for herself, She had been helping her mother, and had had a hard time. On the recommendation ot Major Annie Female Probation Officer, the young offender was admitted to probation for two years and ordered to make restitution.
