DAMAGES CLAIM FAILS
SPECTATOR INJURED AT SPORTS (Special to THE SUN) CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. At the Cheviot amateur sports in December, 1926, John Joseph Collins, farmer, of Port Robinson, was struck on the slioudcr by a 161 b hammer during the hammer-throwing event. He claimed damages for £l3l 13s from the president of the club and a steward, on the ground of negligence. This week Mr. H. .1\ Lawry, S.M.. gave judgment for the defendants! There might have been negligence, he said, but there* was also contributorv negligence, as plaintiff had been warned against standing where he did. The question of costs was reserved.
