DAMAGES CLAIM UPHELD
PEDESTRIAN GRANTED £762 ACCIDENT IN NEWTON An award of £750 general damages and £l2 ISs medical expenses was rafi.de by a jury In the Supreme Court yesterday to Edward Campton (Mr. Meredith and Mr. Hubble) against the Vacuum Oil Proprietary, Ltd. (Mr. Haddow). Plaintiff, who claimed JE 1,000, was injured by the wreckage from a collision between a lorry belonging to the defendant company, and a light .motortruck._ at the intersection of Newton and Karangahapo Roads on April 16 After hearing protracted evidence the jury unanimously found that the Oil Company s driver was guilty of negligence. Sir. Haddow was granted leave to move for a new trial within 10 days.
