NATIONAL EXAMS HELD THIS MONTH AUCKLAND ARRANGEMENTS Between November 2# and Navember 29 four examinations will be held in New Zealand, at which candidate* will sit for the senior national scholarship, the intermediate examination. the public service examination and the junior national scholarship. The dates for the three former hare been fixed for November 20 to .7 inclusive and for the junior national scholarship from November 28 to at. The Auckland centre for boya lor the first three examinations will be at the University College. A total « 582 candidates is offering, made ap » 269 for public service entrance, IS* tor the intermediate examination for senior free places and 148 for senior national scholarship. The chief supervisor will he Mr. R. L. Baxter and the assist, ant. Miss A. Goodwin. The girls centre will be at Scots’ Hall, Symonos Street, and 245 candidates are offering. Mr. J. W. Hardy is the chief supervisor and the lady assistant is Mrs. E. M. Crowe. Hast year a total of 5*3 bo.» and 292 girls were examined. This year the technological examination. a special test for pupils of 1 technical school, will be held, and candidates are entered, all from U» Seddon Memorial Technical CoUegt, Auckland. This examination that conducted by the City and GniM» of London Institute. The Education Department has followed the lead « tho Australian States and is no* holding its • own trade examination instead of sending the papers to *"#• land. . • The total entry for the junwr national scholarship has decrease* owing to a reduction of one year the age limit.
