Tabloid Rodeo for Jubilee Spring Show

New Events Planned ENTRY LIST ANNOUNCED New and interesting show ring events are planned by the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association for its jubilee spring show on November 23 and 24. These will include wood-chopping contests, and steer-riding on the second day. In every department ih- lft2S sbow promises to be even better than its successful predecessors. Entries closed last evening, and the numbers which came forward in the last few days gave promise of tin usually strong competition. So far, 1,066 entries have heeu r< ceived, as compared with 1,240 lasi year, but many have yet to come 11 > hand, especially from Hamilton, where the secretary of the association. Mr. W. F. O’Donnell, is at presem making preliminary arrangements. The season has been favourable and stock should be penned in excel lent display condition. Awards in many sections will include champion ships. Interesting examples of imported stock will be seen in the Jersey cattle section, and a bull valued at 2,000 guineas will be on show. The fat stock and competitions sections should be well patronised by exhibi tors. ,

In the home industries section the Auckland Gas Company has ofTered a gas cooker valued at £lB for the best fruit cake cooked in a gas oven. An electric oven, or goods to the same value, are offered by the Auckland Electric-Power Board under similar conditions. There will be no dull moments in the show ring, and the Australian system of control by a ringmaster will be introduced. Prizes of £7 and £:> for first and second place are offered to steer-riders. A number of entries have been received, 15 steers artavailable, and in all probability post entries will be taken.

The wood-chopping will include 12inch and 14-inch events, and crack axemen will be seen in action. Another attraction will be the displays and competitions of the Auckland Mounted Rifles, who are arranging for a Lloyd Lindsay, a Victoria Cross event, musical chairs, and tent pegging.
