Rushworth, the sole Country Party representative in the House, will occupy when Parliament again assembles, are set at rest by Mr. P. Keegan, Country Party candidate for Waikato, who states that Mr. Rushworth is pledged to vote against the present Government. “After that,” said Mr. Keegan, ‘Hie will give liis support to whatever parties or measures promise to aid the primary producer. Abolition of all tariffs that tend to raise costs gf production is aimed at.” He stated that Mr. Rushworth would in the final analysis prove to be the one really Independent member in the House. The Country Party was very satisfied with its performance in getting one member into Parliament. Only five had stood, and four of them polled really well.
