FACE MOULDING
TO SUIT YOUR DESIRES "BE NATURAL” You can be just as beautiful as you wish. Never mind if your cheek bulges where it shouldn’t, and your chin hasn’t that nice rounded firmness which you ache to possess. Don’t be despondent if you have lines round the eyes—if you follow the example of your American cousins all this can be remedied with a little care and a little cream. “Mould your face to the dream of beauty you desire,” is the latest slogan of the American woman, and she doesn’t demand expensive machinery to put the slogan into action. Just time and patience and knowledge are all that are required An Australian girl, who has returned after spending 13 months studying the newest beauty cultures in the States, says that the American woman now spends the time on her face which previously she her hair. The tresses are growing, “set” waves are departing, and in their place is the face bearing evidence of careful attention. “Freak make-ups are disappearing,’ said the visitor, “and the attempt is to be as natural as possible. The only dominant note vividness of the lips, but the rest of the face is powdered to match the colour and texture of the skin. Eyebrows are trimmed, but no longer plucked to a fine line. Ears are worn, or not. according to fancy; the newest ear-ring is not a pendant, but a jewel shaped to fit the lobe of the ear. “Although dressmakers are catering for plumper figures. I did not see any evidence of women fattening themselves on the altar of fashion. The main thing in the life of a New York woman is her daily dozen, her face and her diet. Special food is more a religion than a fad, these days. “The ultimate ideal, of course, is beauty approaching perfection, and more than any other woman on earth the American specialises in personal hygiene. She is immaculate from her toe-nails to her finger-nails.”
