PAEROA’S NEW PLAYGROUND
The children's playground in tram .. the Public Works Office, near the Crt erion Bridge, is completed except -V fencing. It is being laid out with «*,V' able trees, and contains a large conerp " basin of water for the children to paidin, also a number of swings and aliju Similar preparations are . being carryout near the rotunda at the other of the town. It remains to be whether this amusement for children v 1 compensate the borough for the outlay The West football soc:§.l was held Thursday night in Paeroa, and althcai* the attendance was not so large a* v expected it nevertheless proved a sur' cess. The euchre contest resulted in th prizes being awarded to Mrs. F T v Johnson, of Nether ton, with Mrs. Tr* sider second, and Mr. J. Monk, with yG. Tressider second.
Mr. E. Edwards presented the pme and also the medals won during u season. The junior medal, presents hMr. G. A. Bush, of Te ArohaTfor most improved player, was won by l Carrick; and the third grade raedaL sented by Mr. R. W. Evans, was won h* C. Williams.
