PUBLIC SCHOOL OLD BOYS

ENGLISH ASSOCIATION AUCKLAND BRANCH WORK Old boys from Harrow, Charterhouse, Malvern, Repton, Westminster, Mill Hill and Dulwich met in the Chamber of Commerce on Thursday at a meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Association of Public Schools of Great Britain. Apologies were received from representatives of other schools. The branch elected Mr. 11. S. W. King, who is a member of the central executive committee, to be chairman and ho gave a report on the progress of tho Big Brother movement among tho younger public school boys in New Zealand. He said this was being carried out by the association in cooperation with the Immigration Department. Mr. King also spoke of the visit next year of a party of English public school boys under the control of a committee set up by the Secretary of State for the Dominions, Mr. L, S. Amery. lie read a letter from Dr. Kendall, ex-headmaster of Winchester, who is arranging the journey with Sir James Parr. The association decided to help in welcoming and entertaining the boys and also decided to support Professor Perrin’s proposal that when the immigration of public school boys should be resumed arrangements should be made for them to stay at Massey College for the first year.
