Suburban Cricket
GOOD MATCHES PROMISED
Ponsonby Plays Harbour Board
IN the second series of matches in the first round of the Suburban Cricket Association’s competition, most interest will be centred in the Harbour Board-Ponsonby contest. In their opening games these teams impressed most. Oh the Domain also, Victoria plays Green Lane and Ellerslie meets Glen Eden.
Harbour Board and Ponsonby are fielding the same players who served them so well against Victoria and Ellerslie. On a dry ground, batting will be brisk. Green Lane will again have the services of George R. Cox, the Sussex coach, and Victoria’s bowlers will have to-be on the alert. Elle.rslie will have to improve on its weak effort of last Saturday if Glen Eden, which is a solid batting side, is to bo stopped. A full programme of grade matches will be decided. The opening games were interrupted by rain last week.
Two alterations to grounds have been notified in the junior section. Maungakiekie will play Parnell on Outer Domain No. 3, and Edendale will meet L. D. Nathan’s on Domain No. 6. Owing to the grounds being occupied, there will be no lodge competitions during the week. Teams a.re: Senior A Grade Harbour Board.—L. Breese. L. Martin, i J. Mann, A. Dunning, T. Bennett, X. j
